Product Description

Amazon.com

After creating a gadget/fashion icon in the original MOTORAZR, Motorola has upped the ante with the new RAZR2 V8 with cutting edge technology and enhanced features that make it even easier to use. It features 512 MB of internal flash memory, quad-band GSM connectivity for roaming the globe, and quick downloads via the EDGE data network. It's fully loaded with an arsenal of digital tools, including a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth connectivity for streaming music and photo printing, dual color LCD screens, e-mail access, digital audio player, and full duplex speakerphone. And speaking of cutting edge, the phone's stainless steel internal frame and cast aluminum housing support makes the RAZR2 V8 stronger and more durable than its predecessor.

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

Sleeker, smarter, stronger: the RAZR2 V8 boasts a durable stainless steel frame and chemically hardened glass displays.
Phone Features
Designed to be even sharper than before, the RAZR2 V8 shaves two millimeters from the original MOTORAZR. Its one-piece housing has no parting lines (meaning fewer chances of break points) and the cast aluminum hinge underwent more than 100,000 lab tests to ensure durability. Even the exterior camera lens is stronger, as it is made with chemically hardened glass. Despite its slimmer profile, the RAZR2 V8 offers enhanced dual screens that make the phone seem larger. The 2.2-inch internal screen offers twice the resolution of the original MOTORAZR while the 2-inch external screen is great for checking caller photo ID, easily reading incoming text messages, and controlling music playback through onscreen controls. Other Motorola-engineered enhancements include:
  • Upgraded Interface: With the redesigned, more intelligent interface, you'll be able to search for contacts faster and avoid duplicate entries for the same person while allowing contacts to have multiple numbers. The customizable main menu means you're never more than 2 to 3 clicks away from your favorite applications. And text messaging is easier, with the V8 recognizing what type of message you are sending.
  • CrystalTalk Technology: This innovative feature automatically accounts for background noise during a call and adjusts the audio quality based on ambient noise conditions to provide the optimal conversational experience. CrystalTalk also reduces the volume of the background noise picked up by the microphone during a call, making it possible to be more easily heard over the phone while in a noisy environment.
  • Talk to Me: Originally designed to address the needs of those with vision impairment, the RAZR2 V8 is able to read the phone's interactive menus, contacts, messages and more aloud--adding convenience to your on-the-go lifestyle. SMS messages on the phone can be read and replied to with pre-programmed text messages without ever having to open up the flip.
  • Haptics: Motorola has incorporated breakthrough haptics technology--an interface that creates tactile feedback--that provides vibrating feedback in response to your finger taps. When combined with the virtual music keys, the haptics technology helps you to effortlessly control music playback.

The 2-megapixel camera includes an 8x digital zoom and it can automatically snap up to eight new pictures--letting you choose the best image from a complete series of pictures. You can even print photos wirelessly to a Bluetooth-compatible printer with just a few menu selections. It provides four resolution choices (from 320 x 240 to 1600 x 1200 pixels) and also features a self-timer, free memory space indicator, color effects, night mode for low-light shots, and five shutter sounds (with a silent mode).

The RAZR2 V8 is also an impressive video camcorder, providing up to QCIF resolution (176 x 144 pixels). It also gives you the option of choosing the video format, which offers different frame rates--25 fps for MPEG and H263 and 15 fps for WMV and Real. You can record video for as long as you have available space on the internal memory.

Control music playback with the virtual digital audio player buttons on the V8's external screen, which includes tactile feedback.
With its internal 512 MB of storage (though no MicroSD expansion), the RAZR2 V8 can store up to 1000 of your favorite songs. It offers compatibility with Microsoft Windows Media Player 11, enabling easy synchronization and transfer between phone and PC. You'll be able to modify music playback with the flip closed thanks to the virtual contextual music controls that appear on the external screen. And you can keep playing music even while surfing the web, sending text messages, or even using the camera.

This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

The RAZR2 V8 features a full HTML browser (Opera 8.5) that takes advantage of high-speed wireless data connections for faster, bigger and richer web surfing experience. Built-in e-mail functionality (POP/IMAP/SMTP) combined with MobileSync software provides easy, PC-like access to both personal and corporate e-mail accounts and calendars.

Other features include:

  • Instant messaging via AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, and ICQ
  • Up to 1000 contact entries, each with up to six numbers and two email addresses
  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate) with profiles for communication headsets, handsfree, stereo music streaming, audio/video remote control, printing, dial-up networking, and file transfer
  • USB 2.0 wired connectivity, with mass storage capability
  • Polyphonic and MP3 ringtones
  • Voice command and dialing, as well as ability to record voice memos
  • PIM functions including calendar, calculator, alarm clock, and world clock

Vital Statistics
The RAZR2 V8 weighs 3.8 ounces and measures 4.1 x 2.1 x 0.5 inches. Its mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 8 hours of talk time, and up to 11 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies.

I bought this to replace my wife's Sony slider. She really loved her RAZR and never warmed up to the slider. I did a ton of research and this phone has great reviews from everyone. I initiall ordered it from Cellular Blowout. What a nightmare. The order was cancelled, thank God. I wised up and ordered through Amazon. Fast and dependable as always.

The phone came in an impressive package. We slid in the AT&T sim card and it worked instantly. Not all the contacts moved over, but not a big deal. Paired with bluetooth effortlessly. The call quality is top notch. A lot more bells and whistles but my wife will never use them.

The bottom line. Same great RAZR. Much better built quality. Improved sound. 2 giant screens. You cannot go wrong with this phone. You get what you paid for.

Well I'll keep it short and simple.. if you check out Motorola's website for this phone, you get a pretty good idea of the kind of phone you're getting.

In my case I upgraded from a V3i to this V8. I can only say it's sturdier, has a way faster menu navigation, louder sound and a sleek design.

It seems to me slightly bigger than the v3 and it's just slightly smaller and thinner than the trendy iPhone. However.. when opened up it's mermerizing.

I don't want to spoil your customer experience, so I'll just say... you'll love it the minute you get it, even the original box and packing will impress you.

If you like flip phones... you're gonna love this baby.

The phone I was sent, is not an international sim lock free Motorola V8, but a Motorola V8 from the telephone provider Orange in the UK with a UK power adapter ! It has probable been 'unlocked by the seller' It has an Orange back plate on the phone and an Orange operating system. It cannot connect to the internet, as it always wants to go via Orange UK. For the price I paid, I fee ripped off. This information was not disclosed in the Amazon advertisement for the phone. If it was, I would not have bought it.

Some people need to learn to read the review on the website they're buying their products from. Apparently a few reviewers went to the Motorola website and just assumed that everything listed on the spec page would be included with the phone sold from this site.

The review clearly states it comes with 512MB of NON-upgradable memory. It clearly states there is NO SD or MicroSD expansion slot. It doesn't mention a touchscreen.

This phone does everything the review states. It's over $80 less than one bought directly from Motorola and you'd think people would understand why that is.

We buy these phones because we don't want to be tied to long-term contracts. This in turn means some of the phones more advanced or even desirable features will be missing. The phone is capable of 2GB of storage, but only if you buy one directly from a carrier like AT&T. The benefits of doing so include getting more memory and few extra features, the drawback is you will be tied to a 2 or 3 year contract, with the full price of the phone (usually inflated to several times the actual retail cost) due if you decide to break it.

There are three choices. First you can pay the full retail price for the phone and still only have the features listed here, the memory listed here (512MB), but you'll get an English manual and maybe a free USB cable.

Secondly, chain yourself to a long term contract with penalty clauses for leaving early, but you'll probably end up with a phone that has more memory. If you're using a phone as media player, this may well be your best choice as long as you know there are far superior alternatives.

The phone arrived alot quicker than I expected so that was a bonus. I love the phone itself, however it is quite hard to keep clean...gets really greasy every time you use it. The other problem was that the operator manual was not in English at all...and the disk is not very user friendly. I'm having to learn things the hard way but am happy overall with the phone.

I ordered a new Motorazerv8 phone from Bestbuy 168. Not only did my order arrive early and in new condition it came with a car charger. I would order from them again.

Pretty good cell phone, mostly well designed except for the cover for the headset/charger port, which is flimsy. Also, I don't like that the headset/charger port are one connector. And I don't like that the headset connector is not a 2.5mm but some kind of Motorola design. Had to buy a special OEM adaptor to use a cellphone headset with a 2.5mm plug with this phone.

I was very excited today when i received this in the mail. When i first opened it, it was very cool, motorola designed the box of the phone to be at top with the phone. I popped in my at&t sim card and everything worked fine! Calling and texting works, im still trying to get my internet settings figured out. This is a very nice phone, and i suggest it to anyone that is looking to buy. This phone looks and feel like a million bucks. One thing i was diappointed in was the fact it lacked external touch sensitive controls. They only work with the music player. But when you get a text you can view and reply to it without opening the phone but you have to use the side controls. Other than that its a nice phone.
